ELMA education programming pursues excellence in
basic education for poor and disadvantaged
children and youth in southern Africa while complementing and
enhancing grants to support health. The chief
guiding principle is to strengthen each part of
the “educational triad” — student, parent, and
teacher. Priority areas encompass:

 |
Basic competencies (early childhood,
primary and secondary levels) |
 |
Community-based schools (with attention to
nutrition, health and safety) |
 |
Educational advancement and teacher training |
