ELMA supports the care and prevention of child
and adolescent diseases, child nutrition, and
healthy child development, including assistance
to children with disabilities and to those who
have been orphaned or maltreated. Another focus
area is helping to raise the standard of care
and training across Africa, in recognition of
the undermining effect of the ‘brain drain’
phenomenon among health workers. Priority areas
encompass:

 |
Childhood infectious diseases (especially
comprehensive care for children, families,
and caregivers affected by HIV/AIDS) |
 |
Nutritional well-being (complementing ELMA’s
education programming efforts) |
 |
Healthy child development, including
improving quality of life for children and
youth with physical or mental disabilities |
