Special Initiative: 
Masana wa Afrika

Led by a team in South Africa and Uganda, Masana wa Afrika provides grants and capacity-strengthening support to community-based organizations providing critical services to children and families across Africa.

In 2023, Masana wa Afrika spun out of ELMA’s Community Grants Program which, since 2012, had supported over 130 community-based organizations, over half of which support children with special needs.

In addition to providing general operating support to community-based organizations, Masana wa Afrika offers support to its grantee partners in areas of financial management, governance, organizational development, programming, communications, measurement & evaluation, and fundraising.
